- Louise Brooks: Achieved fame during the final years of silent cinema. Was American but had greatest success in German productions Pandora's Box and Diary of a Lost Girl (1929). Had last starring role in 1930, at age 24, and retired from the screen in 1938. See List of silent stars who failed to make the transition to talkies.
- Mae Clarke
- Edward Woods: Played sidekick Matt Doyle in The Public Enemy (1931). Was initially cast as protagonist Tom Powers, with James Cagney as Doyle, but director William Wellman switched the roles around during production. Cagney became a star, Woods went on to increasingly minor roles during the 1930's and 1940's. He retired from the screen in 1944, went into producing and management, and died in 1989.
